(GIVE) Global Echo ETF

Overview

How GIVE Works

The AdvisorShares Global Echo ETF (NYSE Arca: GIVE) is a broadly diversified actively managed ETF with a focus on sustainable and impact investment opportunities. GIVE seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation by providing a diversified approach to investing in both equities and bonds. GIVE improves its diversification by having two institutional portfolio managers, which also provides investment style and strategy diversification.

GIVE is designed as a core allocation that proactively seeks opportunities in sustainable and impact investment themes, which includes a philanthropic strategic initiative. The ETF will allocate capital to equity of publicly traded companies and debt securities with a proactive and meaningful sustainability mandate. The portfolio managers seek securities that may technologically, socially and environmentally impact the earth positively – with a focus on themes such as water, clean energy, innovation and other sustainable and impact themes. Through its portfolio managers, GIVE also brings corporate sustainability, shareholder advocacy and activism, community investing, fossil-fuel divestment, and commitment to education through a single investment. Additionally, GIVE’s philanthropic impact mandate directly supports the GlobalECHO Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization led by its chairman, Philippe Cousteau, who is also an Emmy-nominated TV host, author, speaker, social entrepreneur and prominent leader in the environmental movement. Why Invest in GIVE?

GIVE is a multi-manager, multi-strategy ETF of stocks and bonds with a sustainable and impact investing focus. The fund is a fossil-fuel-free portfolio with an innovative philanthropic strategic initiative that directly supports Philippe Cousteau’s GlobalECHO Foundation.

  • Diversification - GIVE is designed to provide a less correlated return stream to broad market indexes that can be considered part of an investor’s core asset allocation.
  • Access to Institutional Managers - GIVE's portfolio managers are recognized experts in sustainable and impact investing with well-established track records serving primarily accredited investors. Reynders, McVeigh Capital Management manages the equity allocation and Community Capital Management manages the fixed income allocation within the overall portfolio.
  • Fossil-Fuel-Free Investing - GIVE maintains a high sustainability bar that avoids investing in traditional energy producers or refiners, as the portfolio management team believes in the necessity of a low-carbon future, which also serves as a potential investment tailwind.
  • Philanthropic Mandate - AdvisorShares and the portfolio managers have committed to make contributions each month to the Global Echo Foundation, regardless of the profitability of the ETF. The contribution amount will be the equivalent of 25 basis points (0.25%) of assets under management in GIVE. In addition, AdvisorShares will commit to contribute at least the equivalent of 15 basis points (0.15%) of the assets invested in GIVE to support other impactful and charitable causes.

GIVE Principal Investment Strategies

GIVE seeks to achieve its investment objective by primarily investing in a variety of securities, including:

  • U.S. Equities
  • International Equities
  • U.S. Fixed Income

The ETF will typically maintain an allocation to both equity and fixed income oriented securities, where its fixed income allocation can range from a 15% minimum to a 65% maximum.

The equity portions focus on long positions in securities, including common and preferred stock of U.S. companies, convertible securities, and international equities. GIVE may invest in companies of any size (from small-cap to mid-cap to large-cap) and in any style (from growth to value).

The fixed income portion primarily invests in agency mortgage-backed securities, taxable municipals, and the government-guaranteed portion of small business loans – all which support community and economic development in the United States (e.g., affordable housing, environmental sustainability, neighborhood revitalization and job creation). Community Capital does not own debt of corporations.

5 Key Attributes

  1. Focus on Sustainability & Making an Impact - With dwindling global natural resources, the effects of climate change, and various socioeconomic issues facing the world, GIVE provides a unique public/private partnership that can proactively make a difference with its capital allocations.
  2. Diversified Exposure - GIVE invests in a diversified portfolio of securities such as U.S. equities (both common and preferred), international equities and fixed income securities.
  3. Multi-Manager - GIVE is managed by two portfolio managers with an institutional pedigree and well-established record of sustainable investment experience. A portion of GIVE’s assets is allocated to each manager who then employs their respective investment strategies.
  4. Multi-Strategy - GIVE’s portfolio managers employ separate and unique global equity and domestic bond strategies all with a sustainability and impact investing focus.
  5. Doing Well by Doing Good - GIVE serves as a reminder that an opportunity always exists to make an impact on people and this planet. GIVE is designed to have “triple-impact” – seeking positive returns for investors, investing in public securities focused on positive and sustainable mandates, and finally through contributions made by the Advisor to support the work of the Global Echo Foundation and other charitable causes making a positive impact.

A Unique Opportunity - The Global Echo Foundation

Today’s global issues require a new approach to problem solving. The GlobalECHO Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization co-founded and chaired by Philippe Cousteau.

The GlobalECHO Foundation employs a blended model of strategic investment and sustainable philanthropy to create a financial approach that helps drive resources to solving some of the world’s most challenging environmental and social dilemmas.

The GlobalECHO Foundation is focused on providing funding and support in three core areas:

  1. Investing in the Lives of Women and Children – In developing nations around the world, the health and well-being of local communities and economies often depends on the efforts of women and mothers. By investing in programs that support employment opportunities and health initiatives for women, family and community health can be dramatically strengthened and improved.
  2. Supporting Social Entrepreneurship & Micro-Enterprise - Innovation is an essential element in building a brighter future. Positive change within communities can be accelerated by helping to support and create a system that encourages social entrepreneurship and micro-enterprise.
  3. Encouraging Environmental Sustainability Globally - Many regional and local communities are exploring viable long-term solutions to pressing issues impacting the health and well-being of people and the planet. In many cases, adequate funding is the biggest obstacle to success.
